Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan is currently being held at Adiala Jail, the prison authorities have confirmed. They also stated that he is in good health. On Wednesday (26 November), rumors spread claiming that Imran Khan had been secretly transferred from Adiala Jail to an unknown location. Some reports even alleged that he had died.
In response, Adiala Jail authorities issued a statement saying, “The news about him being moved from Adiala is false. He is completely healthy and receiving necessary medical treatment. Reports about his illness are baseless, and his well-being is being ensured.”
Imran Khan lost his position as prime minister in 2022 after a no-confidence vote. Following that, multiple cases—including corruption charges—were filed against him. He was also accused of involvement in the attack on the military headquarters and leaking classified state documents.
Amid significant political drama, he was arrested in 2023. Although he was released once, he was later detained again. Since August 2023, he has remained in prison.
Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif stated that Imran Khan is being given maximum facilities in jail. He claimed that Khan is receiving privileges even greater than what he was entitled to.
Khawaja Asif added, “Look at the menu of the food he receives. These items are not even available in five-star hotels. He also has access to a television and can watch any channel he wishes. He even has exercise equipment.”
He further claimed that the former prime minister has been provided with a double bed as well.
