Earthquake Shakes Dhaka Again

Tremor felt eight hours after the previous quake; magnitude updated to 4.3 with epicenter in Dhaka’s Badda area

Dhaka experienced another earthquake on Saturday (22 November) at 6:06:04 PM, just eight hours after the earlier tremor.

According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, the quake measured 4.3 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter located in Dhaka’s Badda area. It has been classified as a light earthquake.

Initially, the department reported the magnitude as 3.7, which was later updated.

Meanwhile, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported the magnitude as 4.3, with the epicenter 11 km west of Narsingdi.

On the other hand, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) stated the magnitude was 3.7, with a depth of 10 km. It reported the epicenter as 8 km north-northeast of Dhaka.

Earlier in the day, at 10:36 AM, another tremor was felt, measuring 3.3 with the epicenter in Palash upazila of Narsingdi.

Before that, on Friday (21 November), a stronger earthquake jolted Dhaka and several other districts of the country. At least 10 people were reported dead nationwide. The quake measured 5.7 on the Richter scale, with the epicenter in Madhabdi, Narsingdi.
