8 Killed in Explosion in Parked Car in Delhi

A powerful blast in a parked vehicle near Delhi’s Red Fort left at least eight people dead and several others injured, prompting authorities to impose high alert across the city.

At least eight people have been killed in a devastating explosion in India. The incident occurred on Monday evening (10 November) near the Red Fort area in the capital, New Delhi, when a parked car suddenly exploded.

Multiple nearby vehicles caught fire due to the blast, and window glass of adjacent buildings shattered. As of the time of reporting, Delhi Police has confirmed the deaths of eight people. Many others are feared injured. Senior police officials have reached the scene and begun an investigation.

A high alert has been issued across Delhi following the explosion.

According to the local fire service, seven fire engines were dispatched to the site, and the entire area has been cordoned off.

A senior official of the Delhi Fire Service said the explosion occurred in a car parked beside Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station. The intensity of the blast was extremely high.

Video footage from the scene shows several vehicles burnt to ashes and thick plumes of smoke rising into the air. Panic quickly spread throughout the area after the incident.

One eyewitness said: “I was in the gurdwara when I suddenly heard a loud explosion. I couldn’t understand what had happened. The sound was terrifyingly loud. Several cars around were completely burnt.”
