Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has released a strong audio message calling on the people of Bangladesh to ensure the success of the upcoming 13th lockdown. In her address, she launched a fierce critique of the interim government led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, accusing it of violence, repression, and economic destruction.
Hasina said that during the student protests of July 2024, “Yunus’s people killed students,” and that similar brutality is now being unleashed on teachers demanding justice. “They are torturing and killing teachers, and arresting anyone who raises their voice,” she said.
She also alleged that the regime attempted to kill her “to stay in power” and blamed Yunus’s administration for the deaths of several police officers during the July protests. “Yunus has destroyed Bangladesh’s economy and suffocated the people’s freedom,” Hasina declared.
Emphasizing unity and determination, she urged citizens to prepare for the 13th lockdown as a national movement. “The 13th lockdown must be successful. Yunus must be pressed to resign. Everyone should prepare with whatever they have,” she said.
The message has sparked widespread reaction across Bangladesh, with growing protests by teachers, students, and civil servants echoing calls for accountability and a return to democratic governance.
