Washington, D.C., October 30, 2025 —
The White House issued a presidential message today commemorating the 290th birthday of John Adams, America’s second president and one of the nation’s Founding Fathers.
The message praised Adams for his “intellect, integrity, and devotion to country,” highlighting his pivotal role in securing America’s independence and shaping the foundations of the Republic. It recounted Adams’s contributions as a lawyer, delegate to the Continental Congress, drafter of the Massachusetts Constitution, and diplomat who helped end the Revolutionary War.
As President, Adams “strengthened the Navy, protected American sovereignty, and transformed revolutionary ideals into a working system of self-government,” the statement said.
Drawing connections between Adams’s legacy and current administration goals, the President noted ongoing efforts to “advance the same ideals President Adams fought for.” The message referenced recent policy moves such as renaming the Department of Defense to the Department of War, restoring “equal justice under the law,” and pursuing a “foreign policy of peace through strength.”
The message concluded by urging Americans to honor Adams’s example of “strength, duty, and love of country” as the United States approaches its 250th anniversary of independence.
