Rohit Sharma has been rewarded for his outstanding batting performance in the ODI series against Australia. With innings of 73 and an unbeaten 121 in the second and third ODIs respectively, he has climbed to the top of the ICC ODI batting rankings for the first time in his career.

Having been a regular in the top ten for more than a decade, Rohit has now surpassed Ibrahim Zadran and Shubman Gill. His century in particular played a key role in boosting his rating points and taking him to the No. 1 spot. Although India lost the series 2–1, Rohit’s performance stood out.
