Tokyo — President Donald J. Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae officially implemented a landmark agreement on October 28, 2025, signaling what both leaders called a “New Golden Age” for the U.S.–Japan alliance.
The declaration follows a series of high-level commitments — including the July 22 Agreement, Executive Order 14345, and the September 4 Memorandum of Understanding on strategic investments — all aimed at deepening economic and security ties between the two nations.
According to the joint statement released by the White House, both sides expressed satisfaction with the “swift and continued efforts” made since the initial agreement. The leaders reaffirmed their shared goal of bolstering economic security, promoting growth, and enhancing global stability.
President Trump and Prime Minister Takaichi directed their respective ministers and secretaries to accelerate implementation of the agreement’s provisions, which are expected to expand cooperation across trade, technology, defense, and energy sectors.
Signed in Tokyo, the accord underscores Washington and Tokyo’s intention to reinforce their alliance as a pillar of Indo-Pacific stability and prosperity.
