Sheikh Hasina Accuses Yunus of “Destroying Army After Destroying Police”

From exile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina blames the interim regime for crippling Bangladesh’s security forces, fueling economic collapse, and empowering war criminals; vows to stand by citizens and return to the country.

In a strong statement posted on the official Facebook page of the Awami League, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina accused Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus of systematically destroying Bangladesh’s law enforcement and armed forces, warning that the nation is now at its most vulnerable point since independence.

Hasina said, “The Bangladeshi army could refrain themselves from betraying the country. Bangabandhu built this army after 1971, and I have developed them to the fullest — something no other political party ever did. Zia, Ershad, and Khaleda Zia destroyed the army, but we didn’t.”

Referring to the recent arrests of several retired army officers by the army itself, she warned that such actions were “surely damaging Bangladesh’s image internationally.” The prime minister sheikh hasina also alleged that certain military groups are now supporting terrorist activities inside the country instead of ensuring the safety of citizens.

In her remarks, Hasina claimed that Dr. Yunus has turned his attention toward dismantling the army after already destroying the police force, leaving the country in chaos.

“The entire nation is suffering economically; women are suffering the most. There is no democracy left in Bangladesh. The country is now filled with war criminals,” she added.

Concluding her message, Sheikh Hasina reaffirmed her commitment to the people, stating, “I would come back soon. I stand with all the citizens of Bangladesh. I am with you.”

Her statement comes amid growing political tension, mass arrests, and widespread reports of unrest under the current interim administration led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
