President Trump Declares October 14 as National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk

The proclamation honors the slain conservative activist as a “Christian martyr” and pledges to combat political violence across the United States.

Washington, D.C. — October 15, 2025: President Donald J. Trump has proclaimed October 14 as the National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk, commemorating the conservative activist who was assassinated on September 10, 2025. The proclamation was issued by the White House on what would have been Kirk’s 32nd birthday.

In the official statement, President Trump described Kirk as “a father, a husband, a Christian martyr, and a titan of the American conservative movement.” The President praised Kirk’s lifelong dedication to “defending the truth, encouraging debate, and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Trump’s proclamation emphasized the need to confront what he called a “devastating wave of political violence” gripping the nation. “No civilized country can endure a culture where open debate is met with gunfire,” the statement read. The President vowed that his administration would continue working to restore peace in the nation’s public life.

The proclamation called upon Americans to gather in their places of worship to honor Kirk’s memory and to “pray for the advancement of peace, truth, and justice.” It also extended condolences to Kirk’s wife, Erika, and their two children.

Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot last month in a campus courtyard in what authorities have described as a politically motivated attack. His death sparked widespread mourning and renewed debate over free speech and security on college campuses.

With the new national observance, President Trump said the nation must “continue his mission of giving voice to our cherished American ideals with confidence and clarity.”
