Trump Proclaims National Hispanic Heritage Month 2025

The President called on Americans to honor the contributions and resilience of Hispanic communities from September 15 to October 15.

President Donald J. Trump has issued a proclamation designating September 15 through October 15, 2025, as National Hispanic Heritage Month, recognizing the contributions of Hispanic Americans to the nation’s history, culture, and prosperity.

In the statement released Monday (September 22), Trump praised Hispanic Americans for their “unyielding resilience and inspiring commitment to our shared American values.” He highlighted the role of Hispanic patriots in military service, law enforcement, border security, and public service, while also noting their influence on the country’s cultural and economic life.

“Every day, my Administration is working tirelessly to bring opportunity, prosperity, and success to citizens of every background,” Trump said. He added that the monthlong observance is a chance to celebrate the “strength and success of the Hispanic-American community” and to recommit to making the nation “stronger and greater than ever before.”

Congress first authorized Hispanic Heritage Month in 1988 through Public Law 100-402. The law requests that each President issue an annual proclamation marking the celebration.

The proclamation calls on public officials, educators, librarians, and all Americans to observe the month with “appropriate ceremonies, activities, and programs.”
