UAE Imposes Visa Ban on Nine Countries, Including Bangladesh

Citizens of the affected countries will be barred from applying for work, travel, or business visas to the UAE until further notice.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a ban on issuing travel, work, and business visas for citizens of nine countries, including Bangladesh. The UAE Immigration Department confirmed that the directive will come into effect in January 2026.

Under this new measure, citizens from these countries will not be able to apply for any type of visa to enter the UAE for work, leisure, or business purposes until further notice.

The nine countries affected by the ban are:
Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Sudan, and Uganda.

Possible Reasons Behind the Ban

While the UAE government has not provided an official explanation, several international media outlets have speculated on potential reasons:

  • Security Concerns: Efforts to curb terrorism, illegal activities, and undocumented migration.
  • Geopolitical Tensions: Strained diplomatic relations with certain countries.
  • Public Health Measures: Preventive steps to control COVID-19 or other infectious disease risks.

Authorities have indicated that the ban is likely temporary and may be reviewed or lifted depending on future developments.

Importantly, the directive does not affect individuals who are already in the UAE on valid visas.
