Trump Dissatisfied Over Israeli Strike in Qatar

U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed dissatisfaction over Israel’s airstrike in Qatar targeting Hamas. He said the attack served neither Israel’s nor America’s objectives and was a unilateral decision by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to a BBC report on Wednesday (September 10), President Trump remarked that the Israeli airstrike in Qatar targeting Hamas “is not advancing Israel’s or America’s goals.” He added that he felt “very bad” about the choice of location.

In a post on Truth Social on Tuesday, Trump wrote that he learned from the U.S. military that Israel was carrying out a strike in Doha. But he said that “unfortunately, it was too late to stop the attack.”

Trump emphasized, “This was Prime Minister Netanyahu’s decision, not mine.” He also described Qatar as a “close ally and friend.”

Hamas stated that six people were killed in the attack but claimed its leadership survived.

The Israeli military said it was a “well-planned strike” targeting Hamas’s top leaders. Israeli media reported that 15 warplanes took part in the operation and dropped 10 bombs on a single target.

Prime Minister Netanyahu confirmed that he personally authorized the strike and warned that there would be “no concessions for Hamas leaders.”

In a rare move, Trump openly rebuked Netanyahu. He said, “An unilateral bombing of a sovereign country like Qatar—our close ally that works with us at great risk for peace—will not in any way advance Israel’s or America’s objectives.”

Later, speaking to reporters, Trump said he was “very dissatisfied” with how the incident unfolded. “I’m not at all happy with the whole thing,” he remarked.

He also demanded the release of all Israeli hostages held by Hamas and said he would issue a “full statement” on the matter on Wednesday. Trump added, “Nothing in the Middle East surprises me.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the President phoned Qatar’s Emir and Prime Minister to thank them for their cooperation and friendship. He assured them that such incidents would not happen again on Qatari soil.

Still, in his post, Trump reiterated that “eradicating Hamas, which has profited from the suffering of the people of Gaza, is absolutely necessary.” He called for the return of all hostages and the bodies of the dead, and urged an end to the war: “The war must stop now.”
