WASHINGTON, Sept 3 — U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday dismissed rumors circulating on social media about his health, insisting he remains active and energetic.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump brushed off the speculation, saying: “I was very active over the weekend.” He pointed to a busy Labor Day schedule that included media interviews and multiple visits to his Virginia golf course.
When asked directly if he was aware of the online chatter about his condition, Trump responded bluntly: “Fake.”
The rumors gained traction over the holiday weekend, amplified by political opponents and some online commentators who pointed to his reduced public appearances in recent weeks. Trump, 79, has frequently faced questions about his health, with critics citing his age and past medical history as potential concerns for another presidential run.
His aides dismissed the latest claims as politically motivated, emphasizing that Trump has maintained a demanding schedule of rallies, fundraisers, and interviews in recent months. Supporters also highlighted his golfing as evidence of his physical stamina.
Health rumors have periodically dogged Trump since his presidency. In 2020, questions arose after an unannounced visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, though the White House later described it as part of a routine physical. Similar speculation has also shadowed other senior political figures in Washington, where both age and health have become sensitive issues ahead of the 2024 presidential race.
For now, Trump’s camp is treating the latest wave of speculation as little more than online noise. But as the campaign season intensifies, questions over the health and fitness of America’s senior political leaders are likely to remain a recurring theme.
