BSL Demands Resignation of Yunus Government Over Student Safety and Campus Crisis

The student body contrasted the current situation with the period under former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, stating that her leadership had eliminated the culture of arms from campuses and established a safe and hopeful environment for students. According to the BSL, her administration made steady progress in infrastructure, housing, research, and employment, ensuring students a bright future.

Dhaka, September 2, 2025 — The Bangladesh Chhatra League (BSL) has issued a strong statement demanding the immediate resignation of the Yunus-led government, accusing it of failing to ensure student safety and protect the dignity of educational institutions.

In a press release signed on 1 September 2025, by BSL President Saddam Hossain and General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Enan, the organization alleged that students across the country are living in insecurity, with campuses marred by bloodshed, armed clashes, and explosions. The statement said students’ books and pens have been replaced with firearms, machetes, and other weapons, while classrooms and examinations remain suspended indefinitely.

The BSL further claimed that dormitories have been ordered to close, leaving students displaced and uncertain about their academic future. With limited employment opportunities in both public and private sectors, the statement warned of a dark future for the young generation, while parents remain in constant anguish.

The statement accused the Yunus government of “systematically using students as tools of violence, humiliating teachers, and turning educational institutions into military outposts.” The BCL declared that such conditions would not be tolerated and vowed that no one would be allowed to gamble with the lives and futures of students.

“The fascist Yunus regime, which has turned student life into hell, must step down immediately,” the press release warned. “Otherwise, students themselves will rise to dismantle Yunus’s grip on power and move forward on the path of dreams and possibilities.”
