Trump Proclaims September 1 as Labor Day, Vows to Defend American Jobs

The President pledges to restore U.S. manufacturing and protect workers against unfair trade practices.

Washington, D.C. — President Donald J. Trump has officially proclaimed September 1, 2025, as Labor Day, urging Americans to honor the contributions of the nation’s workforce with ceremonies and activities.

In his proclamation issued on August 28, Trump praised the “unbreakable spirit” of American workers, calling them the foundation of the nation’s economy and prosperity. Highlighting welders, nurses, truckers, farmers, and machinists, he said every job contributes to building America’s future.

The President sharply criticized previous administrations for allowing U.S. manufacturing to decline, claiming jobs were shipped overseas while foreign competitors grew stronger. “Those days ended on January 20, 2025,” Trump declared, asserting that his administration is restoring dignity to American labor by prioritizing “Buy American, Hire American” policies, securing fair trade deals, and bringing jobs back to U.S. soil.

Trump emphasized that American-born workers are benefiting from new employment opportunities and keeping more of their earnings. “As President, I will always defend the interests of every citizen who works with integrity,” he said.

The proclamation concludes with a call for all public officials and citizens to mark Labor Day with programs and events recognizing the resilience and achievements of working Americans.
