DETROIT, USA — The editor of The Voice, Dastagir Jahangir, held a courtesy meeting with Lori Stone, Mayor of Warren City, a suburb of Detroit, to discuss the Bangladeshi community’s growing contributions and future opportunities.
During the meeting, Jahangir emphasized that the rapidly expanding Bangladeshi immigrant population in Warren is playing an important role not only in the local economy but also in education, culture, and social development. He highlighted the importance of community programs, cultural festivals, and youth engagement initiatives to ensure deeper integration of Bangladeshis into the city’s mainstream.
Mayor Stone acknowledged the positive impact of the Bangladeshi community and assured that the city administration would continue to create more opportunities for immigrants. She emphasized the need to encourage Bangladeshis to take part more actively in schools, cultural centers, and civic programs.
Also present at the meeting was Tahmid Hassan Chowdhury, District Director for Michigan State Representative Mike McFall. He praised the community’s development initiatives and stressed the importance of stronger connections with mainstream politics and public administration.
The discussion further underscored the importance of building an environment based on diversity and mutual respect. “We must encourage our new generation to take part in mainstream politics, education, and social activities. Only then will our community truly thrive,” Jahangir said.
Both sides described the meeting as the beginning of a new chapter in collaboration, one that would enrich Warren City with the cultural diversity and contributions of the Bangladeshi community.
