Michigan, August 21, 2025: On the occasion of the 49th death anniversary of Bangladesh’s Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and National Mourning Day, the Bangabandhu Parishad in Michigan, USA, organized a discussion meeting. The event took place on Wednesday (August 20) evening at a restaurant in Detroit, Michigan.
The meeting was presided over by Ahad Ahmed and moderated by Ali Ahmed. Discussions centered on the historical significance of August 5, August 15, and August 21. In response to questions from leaders regarding Washington D.C., Bangladesh, and the upcoming elections, Dastagir Jahangir, editor of The Voice, delivered an analytical speech.
Former Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Abul Momen, and Nazrul Islam, President of the California Bangabandhu Parishad, participated virtually. Other attendees included Faruk Ahmed, Javed Siraj, Sultan Sharif, Shah Sebul, Md. Shayedul Haque, Imran Hasan Imran, Rumman Imane Chowdhury Ivan, Mohammad Abdul Quddus, Syed Matiur Rahman, and Tahmid Hasan Chowdhury.
The discussion highlighted the enduring legacy of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and emphasized the importance of unity among the Bangladeshi diaspora in promoting the ideals of democracy and national progress.
