Tennis: US Open to Offer Record-Breaking $90 Million Prize Pool

The 2025 US Open will feature the largest prize money purse in tennis history, with a total of $90 million (£67.4m) on offer. The men’s and women’s singles champions will each take home $5 million (£3.7m), marking a 39% increase from the $3.6 million awarded in 2024.

Overall, the prize pool is up 20% from last year’s $75 million. First-round losers will now earn $110,000 (£82,400), up 10% from 2024.

In comparison, this year’s Wimbledon totalled £53.5 million, with £3 million awarded to each singles winner.

The increase follows calls from the top 20 men’s and women’s players, who earlier this year urged the four Grand Slams to offer a larger share of revenues to players.

Tournament organizers said the US Open is committed to providing double-digit percentage increases across all rounds and events, with a significant boost for those reaching the later stages of the singles draws.

Doubles prize money has also seen a major bump. The combined pot for men’s and women’s doubles is now $4.78 million (£3.6m), up 23%. For the first time, winners of the men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles events will each receive $1 million (£749,000) per team.

An additional $5 million (£3.7m) will go toward travel and expense support for main draw players. Prize money for the men’s and women’s qualifying tournaments has also been raised by 10% to $8 million (£6m).

The 2025 US Open will take place at Flushing Meadows from August 24 to September 7.
