Tehran, July 13, 2025 – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian suffered minor injuries in what Iranian media describe as an Israeli airstrike modeled on Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah’s assassination. According to IRGC-affiliated Fars News Agency, the June 16 missile strike targeted a building in western Tehran during a meeting of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. Several top Iranian officials, including Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Judiciary Chief Mohseni Ejei, were present and also sustained minor injuries.
The strike involved six missiles aimed at the building’s exits to trap key figures. However, the group reportedly escaped through an emergency hatch. Iran is investigating a potential internal leak, given the precision of the attack.
President Pezeshkian previously told U.S. journalist Tucker Carlson, “They did try, yes… They acted accordingly, but they failed.”
Iran International reports indicate the attack occurred near Shahrak-e Gharb. Over the course of a 12-day conflict, Israeli forces allegedly killed several top Iranian military leaders and nuclear scientists. A reported plot to assassinate Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei was never executed.
