Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly conveyed to both U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian officials that he supports a new nuclear agreement in which Iran would not be allowed to enrich uranium, Axios reported on Saturday, citing unnamed sources.
However, Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency rejected the report. Quoting an “informed source,” the agency claimed that Putin had not sent any such message to Tehran.
The Axios report comes amid ongoing tensions over Iran’s nuclear program and renewed diplomatic efforts to prevent nuclear escalation in the Middle East.
