Keir Starmer to Visit Donald Trump in Scotland

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has accepted an invitation to meet US President Donald Trump during his expected visit to Scotland later this month, according to Reuters.

While the exact date is yet to be confirmed, preparations are underway.Trump is scheduled to officially open a new 18-hole golf course at his Menie estate on the North Sea coast, named after his mother, Mary Anne MacLeod Trump.

The visit will also include stops at his golf resorts in Turnberry and Aberdeenshire.

However, he is not expected to visit London or meet King Charles, despite earlier reports suggesting a possible royal meeting.Starmer and Trump recently finalized a UK-US trade deal at the G7 summit in Canada, easing some US tariffs on British imports. This meeting follows Starmer’s February trip to the White House, where he presented Trump with a state visit invitation from King Charles.

Trump, whose mother was born in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, has often emphasized his Scottish heritage, although he has only briefly visited her former home.

Police Scotland has begun preparations for the high-profile visit, anticipating significant security operations. Assistant Chief Constable Emma Bond stated they are planning in advance, despite no official confirmation from the White House yet.
