Riot in West Bank: Israeli Army Outpost Set on Fire by Jewish Settlers

A riot broke out between Israeli soldiers and Jewish settlers in the Kafr Malik area near Ramallah, the capital of the Palestinian West Bank. On Monday, settlers set fire to an Israeli army outpost in Kafr Malik. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the incident in a statement, saying the outpost contained expensive security equipment that has been rendered unusable due to the arson attack.Condemning the attack, the IDF stated that such actions threaten the safety of Israeli settlers living in the West Bank.According to a report by the Israeli daily Times of Israel, a group of armed Jewish settlers attacked farmlands in Kafr Malik last Wednesday, forcing Palestinian farmers to leave their fields. When Israeli soldiers arrived on the scene and tried to de-escalate the situation, the settlers began clashing with them. Six Israeli settlers were arrested at the scene on charges of assaulting soldiers. The violence escalated on Sunday night when nearly 100 Jewish settlers attacked and set fire to the same outpost in Kafr Malik. In a statement on Monday, the IDF strongly condemned the incident, saying, “The IDF’s primary mission is to ensure the security of Israeli citizens. Such attacks are extremely reprehensible.”Emphasizing a zero-tolerance approach toward the rioters, the IDF added, “The IDF is responsible for safeguarding civilians and suppressing those who cause chaos. We will continue to fulfill our duties.”
