Dhaka Post | International DeskJune 30, 2025, 09:19 AMIf Iran behaves peacefully and cooperates with the United States, the sanctions imposed on them may be lifted—declared U.S. President Donald Trump. He said that being kind and peaceful is more effective in achieving goals than being harsh or negative. At the same time, Trump dismissed the claim that Iran removed enriched uranium before the U.S. attack. This information was reported by the Anadolu Agency on Sunday night (June 29).In an interview aired on Fox News on Sunday, Trump said,> “If they (Iran) stay peaceful, join with us, and do no more harm—then I may lift the sanctions.”He further added,> “Being kind and peaceful is more effective than being harsh or negative in achieving goals. Lifting sanctions could bring significant changes for Iran.”However, earlier, Trump had halted the initiative to lift sanctions because Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had warned that if the U.S. launched another attack, they would target American bases. In the Sunday interview, Trump reiterated that Iran could not remove its enriched uranium before the U.S. strike, as uranium is a heavy and dangerous substance that cannot be moved quickly. He said,> “We didn’t give much advance warning. So, they couldn’t remove anything. In fact, they couldn’t even imagine we’d actually do it.”Trump claimed that recent Israeli and U.S. strikes have exhausted Iran and that continuing its nuclear activities is currently not feasible. In his words,> “For the time being, they won’t be doing anything with nuclear matters. Their condition is such—they just can’t do it anymore.”Meanwhile, Trump also expressed hope that more countries would join the Abraham Accords. He said several countries have shown interest in joining the agreements aimed at normalizing relations between Israel and Arab nations, although he did not name any specific countries. The Republican President said,> “We already have some important countries with us. Now we’ll see a few more join. Because Iran was the core problem in the whole region.”
