A staff member from the Indian Navy Headquarters has been arrested on charges of spying for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI. The accused has been identified as Vishal Yadav.He is a clerk at the Indian Navy Headquarters and a resident of Haryana state. According to a report published on Thursday (June 26) by Indian media outlet NDTV, he was arrested in Delhi by the intelligence branch of Rajasthan Police (CID Intelligence).Investigators claim that Vishal Yadav had been in contact with a Pakistani handler for a long time and was leaking classified defense information.It has also been alleged that he leaked information even during India’s recent military operation on Pakistani territory, known as “Operation Sindoor.”The investigation revealed that Vishal’s mobile phone contained a large volume of highly confidential information related to the Indian Navy and other defense units. He reportedly passed this information to a Pakistani female handler who identified herself on social media as “Priya Sharma” and paid Vishal in exchange.Police say Vishal maintained contact with the woman mainly through social media. It is believed that he was addicted to online gaming and turned to illegal means to recover from financial losses.According to intelligence officials, payments were made to Vishal through cryptocurrency and even directly into his bank account. He is currently being jointly interrogated in Jaipur by multiple Indian intelligence agencies.NDTV also reported that authorities are trying to determine what kind of information was leaked, who else may be involved in the network, and how extensive the spy ring is.
