Israel Wants to End the War, Sends Message to Iran

Following the U.S. military’s attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, Israel is now planning to end the war with the Islamic Republic of Iran as soon as possible. According to a report by The Wall Street Journal on Monday, citing Arab and Israeli officials, the United States has conveyed Israel’s message to Iran through its Arab allies.Israeli television Channel 12 reported that within the next few days, Israel expects to achieve its military objectives through “Operation Rising Lion”, which aims to eliminate Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile threats quickly.Arab officials told The Wall Street Journal that Israel has expressed its desire to conclude the operation soon and has communicated this message to Iran via the U.S. and its Arab allies. However, Iran is currently unwilling to halt the operation without retaliating against the U.S. attacks. An Israeli official told The Times of Israel on Sunday that Israel is ready to cease bombing immediately if Iran agrees to abandon its nuclear program. He stated, “Ending the operation is not up to us, but up to Iran. If they agree to a deal, we are satisfied with the outcome and can end the campaign now.”Channel 12’s report said there are two possible ways to end the operation:1. Unilateral Declaration – Israel may declare unilaterally that its military objectives have been achieved and that Iran has stopped its missile attacks.2. Mutual Ceasefire – The United States could announce that both parties have agreed to a ceasefire, although Israel sees this option as less favorable. However, if Iran does not stop its missile attacks, Israel is prepared to launch even more forceful retaliatory strikes. The Israeli news outlet Walla reported that Israel sent a message by attacking several government-controlled sites in central Tehran on Monday. The message: if Iran continues its missile attacks, Israeli strikes will escalate further.Citing security sources, Walla also mentioned that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei remains a key obstacle to Tehran agreeing to end the conflict.Israeli officials told The Wall Street Journal that the joint U.S.-Israeli strike is expected to bring Iran back to the negotiating table and ultimately persuade it to halt its nuclear program. However, if Israel believes Iran is attempting to restart its nuclear program, further airstrikes will follow.Earlier on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel is on the verge of achieving its objectives against Iran. Significant damage has been inflicted on Iran’s ballistic missile systems and nuclear facilities. He added that Israel does not want to engage in a prolonged war, but also stressed that the operation would not end until the most important goals are fulfilled.
