At least another 50 Palestinians were killed in a single day due to Israeli attacks in the besieged Gaza Strip. More than a hundred others were injured. Among the dead are also starving aid seekers.With this, the total death toll in the besieged enclave has reached nearly 56,000. This information was reported by Anadolu Agency on Sunday (22 June).According to the agency, the Gaza Health Ministry stated that since the beginning of the Israeli assault in October 2023, at least 55,959 Palestinians have been killed.In a statement issued on Sunday, the ministry said that 51 more bodies were brought to hospitals in the past 24 hours, and 104 new injuries were recorded. In total, the number of people injured due to Israeli aggression has now risen to 131,242.The statement also added:> “Many bodies are still trapped under the rubble or lying on the streets. Rescue workers are unable to reach many areas.”Israel resumed its attacks on Gaza from 18 March, resulting in 5,647 more deaths and 19,201 injuries so far.Earlier in January, a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal had been implemented, which has since collapsed due to renewed violence.In November 2024, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity.Additionally, a genocide case against Israel over its war in Gaza is ongoing at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
