Iran Arrests 54 Mossad Spies

The Middle East remains tense amid consecutive days of conflict between Iran and Israel. Both countries are continuing reciprocal attacks, leading to casualties. In the midst of this deadly conflict, Iranian authorities have arrested 54 individuals accused of being associated with the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad.The detainees have been accused of gathering information for the enemy, conducting anti-state propaganda, and destabilizing the country’s internal security and social stability. This information was reported by Anadolu Agency on Saturday (June 21).According to the report, amid the ongoing tensions with Israel, Iranian authorities arrested 54 individuals in the southwestern province of Khuzestan on charges of being affiliated with Mossad.On Friday, the prosecutor’s office in Iran’s Khuzestan province stated that the arrested individuals were accused of “collecting intelligence for the enemy, spreading anti-state propaganda, and disseminating false information and rumors to disrupt national security and social stability.”Iran’s semi-official news agency Fars, citing government sources, reported that the authorities claim to have found evidence of direct communication between the detainees and the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad.Since the beginning of the conflict on June 13, Israel has launched airstrikes on Iran’s military and nuclear facilities, and in retaliation, Iran has launched ballistic missiles and drone attacks on various Israeli targets.According to official Israeli figures, 25 people have been killed and more than 100 injured in Iranian attacks. On the other hand, Iranian media reports that 639 people have been killed and over 1,300 injured due to Israeli strikes.During this time, cyber and intelligence warfare has also intensified, with the arrest of these 54 suspected spies being part of Iran’s response.
