Nunes Shines Liverpool’s Win After 35 Failed Shots On Goal

Liverpool attacked as soon as the first whistle sounded. That start, the storm of attack gradually gained momentum. But the goal was not matched in hundreds of attempts. At the last moment, the deadlock was finally broken. Substitute Darwin Nunes scored two goals to return to winning the title-winning team.

Erna Slot’s team won the Premier League match 2-0 at Brentford on Saturday.

They won after two matches in the league.

The great Liverpool of the first half of the season are looking for themselves to lose themselves in the new year. They lost points in two consecutive matches in the league. Despite winning a match in the FA Cup, Slot’s team lost to Tottenham Hotspur in the first leg of the semi-finals of the League Cup.

They were desperate to return to winning ways to erase failure. Although very difficult, the goal of the team was achieved.

How much Liverpool played in the whole match, it is clear in the statistics. With more than 60 percent possession of the ball, they can keep eight goals with 37 shots on goal, getting 15 corners. Six of Brentford’s 11 shots were on target.
Liverpool strengthened the top spot with 50 points in 21 matches and 5 draws.

Brentford is at number 11 with 28 points in one match.

Brentford, who scored two goals in the last minute of the previous match, could have started well on this day. In the fifth minute, they got a golden opportunity to go ahead; But Danish midfielder Mikel Damsgun could not give the necessary tap to the ball that touched the opponent’s foot in the teammate’s pass.

After that, Liverpool continued to attack by dominating the ball. In the first half, they could put five on target with 19 shots on goal, although the team could not test the opposing goalkeeper too much.

Liverpool spread fear in the 34th minute in the Brentford box. Dominik Soboslai frustrated with a weak shot ahead of the ball through many of the opponent’s players. In the next minute, the strong shot of the Hungarian midfielder from a distance shook the crossbar.

After the break, the game continued at the same pace. Brentford was busy trying to manage the house under pressure. Sometimes they went on the counter-attack.

Frustration in the Liverpool camp grew as numerous opportunities were wasted.

In the 65th minute, Luis Dias was replaced by Nunes to provide new energy. In the end, he became the hero by repaying the trust.

Liverpool were getting a goal with one minute left in the scheduled time. But the shot taken from outside the box of Mohamed Salah goes out of the post.

In the first minute of the extra time, Trent Alexander-Arnold’s first pass was prevented by the defense. In the second attempt, he found Nunes and the Uruguay forward made the team excited with the right foot shot from the box.

Nunes ended all uncertainty in the next attack after a minute of confidence. In the box, Harvey Elliott’s pass took control of the first touch and he ensured the victory with a perfect shot.
