At least 10 people have been killed and 32 injured in India following a retaliatory strike by Pakistan, according to a report by the BBC.
The incident occurred when Pakistan launched heavy shelling along the Line of Control in response to an earlier Indian airstrike.
Meanwhile, the death toll from India’s airstrikes in Pakistan has risen to 26, confirmed by the Pakistan Army. However, Indian media outlet NDTV reported that the number could be as high as 70.
Earlier, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, spokesperson of the Pakistan military, stated that India carried out attacks on 24 installations across six different locations within Pakistan.
This latest escalation comes nearly two weeks after an incident in Pahalgam, prompting India to launch strikes inside Pakistani territory. Pakistan claims to have downed at least five Indian fighter jets during the conflict.
The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres expressed deep concern over the escalation, urging both nations to exercise maximum military restraint. He warned that further military conflict between India and Pakistan would be detrimental to global peace
