Vance Warns, America Holds the Upper Hand Even if Iran Deal Fails

U.S. Vice President has said that the United States will remain in a strong position even if ongoing discussions with fail to produce an agreement.

Speaking in interviews with several media outlets regarding the memorandum of understanding under discussion with Iran, Vance said Washington hopes the negotiations will succeed but is prepared for all possible outcomes.

In an interview with , he said the U.S. wants the talks to move forward positively, but stressed that America would still hold a stronger strategic position than Iran if the discussions collapse.

Vance claimed that Iran’s nuclear programme and military capabilities have already been significantly weakened. He also warned that any Iranian attack on shipping in the would trigger a military response from the United States.

He added that President has already made Washington’s position on the matter clear.

According to Vance, a successful and lasting agreement could bring long-term changes to Iran. Earlier, he also noted that oil transportation through the Strait of Hormuz has returned to pre-conflict levels.

While technical-level discussions between the two sides are continuing, Tehran has denied claims that any formal peace talks with the United States are currently underway.
