20 Arab and Muslim Nations Condemn Israeli Attacks, Call for De-escalation

In a joint statement released via Egypt’s state news agency MENA, the foreign ministers of 20 Arab and Muslim countries strongly condemned Israel’s recent attacks on Iran and urged an immediate de-escalation of tensions in the region.The statement, signed by the foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Bahrain, Brunei, Turkey, Chad, Algeria, the Comoros, the United Arab Emirates, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Somalia, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Libya, and Mauritania, expressed “grave concern over the dangerous escalation” currently unfolding.The ministers emphasized the importance of respecting national sovereignty and territorial integrity, while upholding the principles of good neighborliness. They urged all parties involved to resolve disputes through peaceful and diplomatic means.Reiterating their commitment to regional stability, the ministers highlighted the urgency of establishing a Middle East free of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction. They also called on all countries to join the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).Israel, which has not signed the NPT, was implicitly referenced in the call, as the ministers warned that military action cannot bring lasting solutions, and only diplomacy can lead to sustainable peace.
