New Delhi, June 5, 2025 — As Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares for his visit to Jammu and Kashmir on June 6, the Congress party has raised concerns over the lack of accountability for the perpetrators of the Pahalgam terror attack that occurred on April 22, 2025. The attack resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, including 25 tourists and one local resident. The Congress party has criticized the government’s response to the attack and the subsequent developments.  
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh pointed out that the terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam attack have not yet been brought to justice. He also noted that, according to some reports, these same terrorists were allegedly involved in previous attacks in Poonch in December 2023 and in Gagangir and Gulmarg in October 2024. Ramesh questioned the government’s failure to apprehend these individuals and demanded clarification on the matter. 
The Congress party has also expressed concerns about the government’s handling of the situation, including the lack of transparency regarding the ceasefire announced by former U.S. President Donald Trump following Operation Sindoor. The opposition has called for a special session of Parliament to discuss the ceasefire and the broader implications of the Pahalgam attack.  
In response, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy accused the Congress party of disrespecting the Indian armed forces by questioning the government’s actions and making unverified claims. He defended the government’s response to the attack and emphasized the importance of supporting the armed forces in their efforts to combat terrorism. 
As Prime Minister Modi’s visit approaches, the situation remains tense, with political parties urging the government to address the concerns raised and ensure accountability for those responsible for the Pahalgam attack.
