HBO’s acclaimed period drama The Gilded Age is set to premiere its third season on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and streaming on Max. The upcoming season comprises eight episodes, continuing the opulent saga of 1880s New York City, where the clash between old-money aristocracy and ambitious new-money families intensifies.
Season 3 delves deeper into the ambitions and conflicts of its central characters. Bertha Russell (Carrie Coon) strives to elevate her family’s social standing through strategic marriage alliances, while her husband George (Morgan Spector) faces challenges in the railroad industry. The Brook–van Rhijn household experiences internal tensions, and Peggy Scott (Denée Benton) navigates potential romance amid professional obstacles.
The ensemble cast sees the return of Louisa Jacobson, Cynthia Nixon, Christine Baranski, Taissa Farmiga, Blake Ritson, and Harry Richardson. New additions include Phylicia Rashad as Elizabeth Kirkland, Brian Stokes Mitchell as Frederick Kirkland, and Jordan Donica as Dr. William Kirkland. Other newcomers are Bill Camp portraying financier J.P. Morgan and Merritt Wever as Monica O’Brien, Bertha’s estranged sister.
A teaser trailer released on May 1 hints at escalating tensions between Bertha and George, particularly concerning their daughter’s future. The trailer underscores the season’s exploration of love versus pragmatism in a society driven by status and wealth.
An advance screening of the season premiere is scheduled for June 12 at the Tribeca Film Festival. Fans can catch up on the first two seasons, currently available for streaming on Max.
