India Responds to Pahalgam Terror Attack with Operation Sindoor
New Delhi, India – May 13 (ANI): Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that India had launched Operation Sindoor in response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives. Speaking to the nation, PM Modi emphasized that the operation was a decisive strike against terrorism, targeting key terror infrastructure within Pakistan.
The Prime Minister stated that India’s precision strikes successfully dismantled several terrorist hideouts and training centers. He noted that terrorist bases such as Bahawalpur and Muridke, which have been linked to major global attacks—including 9/11 and the London Tube bombings—were among the targets. PM Modi declared that more than 100 terrorists were eliminated in the strikes.
In response to India’s military action, PM Modi said Pakistan exhibited signs of deep frustration and disappointment, allegedly preparing for a border offensive. However, he asserted that India struck at the heart of Pakistan, damaging key airbases of the Pakistani Air Force. According to Modi, India’s strong air defense system intercepted and neutralized Pakistan’s drones and missiles.
Pakistan subsequently appealed to the global community for de-escalation, with Pakistan’s Army contacting India’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) on May 10. Following significant losses and destruction of terror camps, PM Modi said India had suspended retaliatory action but would closely observe Pakistan’s future stance.
“Our unwavering commitment to justice and national security is reflected in Operation Sindoor,” PM Modi stated. “We have only suspended our retaliatory actions and will continue assessing Pakistan’s position.”
The latest developments have raised concerns across diplomatic channels, with international attention focused on how tensions between the two nations will evolve in the coming days.
