Relatives of people missing in Nepal’s devastating flash floods continued gathering outside a hospital in Kathmandu late into the night, anxiously waiting for news of their loved ones.
BBC Nepali reporter Shrijana Shrestha, who visited a hospital in Kathmandu, said the full extent of the disaster was still unclear. Many injured and rescued people were being airlifted to the hospital for treatment.
Outside the hospital, relatives were desperately seeking information about whether their loved ones were safe or still alive. Many were moving between hospitals and other locations in search of missing family members.
Ram Kumari Shrestha was among those waiting for news of her husband. He had travelled to Rasuwa for work as a driver, but she said she had been unable to contact him since the previous night.
At least 157 people have reportedly died in the flash floods across Nepal. According to the BBC, Nepal Police have recovered 157 bodies, while around 403 tourists remained unaccounted for after the disaster, including 341 foreign nationals.
Rescue teams are continuing operations to recover survivors and bodies trapped beneath mud and debris. Authorities are also evacuating families living in areas at risk of further flooding.
