Marvel Studios delivered a series of major announcements at San Diego Comic-Con, revealing new projects, exclusive footage, and release dates that thrilled fans attending the annual pop culture event.
Among the biggest announcements was the confirmation of “Black Panther 3,” which is scheduled to hit theaters on December 15, 2028. Directed by Ryan Coogler, the film will introduce actor David Jonsson as the new T’Challa, portraying the son of the late King T’Challa, originally played by the late Chadwick Boseman. Returning cast members Letitia Wright and Winston Duke are also set to reprise their roles.
Marvel also officially announced a new “Ghost Rider” film, set for release in 2028. The movie will be directed by Shawn Levy, known for Deadpool & Wolverine, and will star Ryan Gosling in the title role. Gosling and Levy made a surprise appearance during the Comic-Con presentation, drawing enthusiastic reactions from the audience.
One of the event’s highlights was the extensive presentation for “Avengers: Doomsday,” featuring an exclusive teaser and a star-studded panel. The footage revealed Robert Downey Jr. as the iconic villain Doctor Doom, showing him leading the giant Sentinel robots from the X-Men universe in a battle against the Avengers.
The Comic-Con panel included Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, and cast members Chris Evans, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Simu Liu, David Harbour, and Hayley Atwell. Fans attending the event also received custom Doctor Doom masks and costumes as exclusive gifts.
The surprises continued with special appearances by Jon Bernthal, best known for portraying The Punisher, and Ryan Reynolds, who returned to the Comic-Con stage following the success of the Deadpool franchise.
Marvel also reminded fans that its upcoming film “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is set to premiere in theaters later this week, while the highly anticipated “Avengers: Doomsday” is scheduled for a worldwide release on December 18.
