Trump Speaks Out on Musk’s New Political Party

Date:

Former close associate Elon Musk’s plan to form a new political party has drawn sharp criticism from U.S. President Donald Trump. Speaking to reporters on Sunday (July 6) before boarding Air Force One, Trump said, “I think forming a third political party is absolutely ridiculous.”

Trump stated that the two-party system has always been the foundation of American political history. He added that forming a new party would only create confusion and produce no effective results.

For the past few weeks, Elon Musk had been hinting at the formation of a new political party named the “America Party.” Finally, on Saturday, Musk announced on X (formerly Twitter) that his new party has officially launched as an alternative to the Republican and Democratic parties.

Trump and Musk were once close allies. During the 2024 presidential election, Musk made a significant donation to help reelect Trump and played an important role in the campaign. In his second term, Trump established the “Office of Government Efficiency” to help reduce government spending and appointed Musk as its head. However, due to disagreements, Musk resigned within 130 days. Since then, tensions between the two have been growing.

Recently, Trump’s much-talked-about “Big Beautiful Bill,” which enacted tax cuts and increased government spending, was heavily criticized by Musk. The day after that criticism, Musk announced the formation of his new party.

Yesterday, Trump posted on his own social media platform, Truth Social, saying:
“It’s truly sad to see Musk completely lose his way
