Iran Launches Fourth-Generation ‘Khaybar’ Missile Attack on Israel

Iran has claimed that it used the Khaybar missile in a recent attack on Israel. A statement issued a short while ago by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard confirmed that the ‘Khaybar’ ballistic missile was used for the first time in the ongoing conflict with Israel.Here are some key facts about the missile:The Khaybar missile is one of Iran’s latest medium-range ballistic missiles. Officially known as Khorramshahr-4, it is the fourth generation in the domestically produced Khorramshahr missile series.With a range of 2,000 kilometers, the Khaybar missile can carry a warhead weighing up to 1,500 kilograms, making it one of the heaviest warheads among Iran’s medium-range missiles.The missile is liquid-fueled and can be controlled while in flight.It also has the capability to adjust the warhead’s trajectory outside the atmosphere, significantly enhancing its accuracy compared to previous Iranian missiles.Technologically, the Khaybar’s maximum speed outside the atmosphere is estimated to be Mach 16 (16 times the speed of sound), and about Mach 8 within the atmosphere.This makes the missile so powerful that intercepting it with conventional air defense systems is extremely difficult.
