Bangladesh, China, and Pakistan Agree to Form Tripartite Platform

In a move aimed at boosting economic development and improving the standard of living for their people, Bangladesh, China, and Pakistan have agreed to establish a tripartite cooperation platform. The decision includes the formation of a joint working group to implement the initiative.China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released the information on its official website on Friday, June 20. According to the ministry, the agreement was reached during a meeting held on Thursday, June 19, in Kunming, Yunnan Province of China. The meeting brought together deputy foreign ministers and foreign secretaries from the three nations.During the trilateral talks, the representatives discussed in detail the framework for China-Bangladesh-Pakistan cooperation. The three sides agreed to advance the collaboration based on principles of good-neighborliness, equality, mutual trust, openness and inclusivity, shared development, and win-win cooperation. The primary objective is to enhance economic growth and improve the quality of life for citizens in all three countries.The cooperation will focus on multiple sectors including industry, trade, maritime affairs, water resources, climate change, agriculture, human resources, think tanks, health, education, culture, and youth engagement.As part of the agreement, the three nations will establish a joint working group to explore and implement specific collaborative initiatives in these areas.The meeting was attended by China’s Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, Bangladesh’s Acting Foreign Secretary Ruhul Alam Siddique, and Pakistan’s Additional Foreign Secretary Imran Ahmed Siddiqui. Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch also joined the discussions virtually.
