Israel is the biggest obstacle to establishing peace in the Middle East, said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He claimed that Israel attacked Iran to sabotage ongoing nuclear talks between Iran and the United States.The remarks came during the opening session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit held today, Saturday, in Istanbul, Turkey. In his speech, Erdoğan strongly condemned Israel’s assault on Iran.Calling Israel’s attack “outright thuggery,” Erdoğan said:> “What Israel is doing in Iran is pure thuggery. The Netanyahu-led government wants to derail Iran’s negotiations with the United States on its nuclear program — that is the real reason behind the attack.”Erdoğan further urged:> “I call upon all Muslim nations of the world — take punitive actions against Israel in accordance with international law and the UN Charter.”Since June 13, Israel has been conducting a military operation in Iran, which is still ongoing. So far, at least 430 people have been killed in the attacks, including Iran’s former military chief General Mohammad Bagheri and several other top commanders.
