CEC: Preparations for Bangladesh’s Upcoming National Election in Final Stages

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin has announced that preparations for Bangladesh’s next national election are now in their final stages. He emphasized the importance of completing the remaining tasks collaboratively and maintaining neutrality throughout the process.Speaking on Sunday morning—the first working day after the Eid holidays—at an internal post-Eid meeting held at the Election Commission headquarters in Agargaon, Dhaka, the CEC directed officials to uphold impartiality and integrity in their duties.“Our oath today should be to conduct a free, fair, and neutral election,” he said. “There must be no allegiance to any political party.”Reiterating the role of the Election Commission, Nasir Uddin stated,“We will act with conscience and in accordance with the law. Those who are participating in the election will compete—let the best side win. We are only here to serve as referees.”Addressing the officials present, the CEC reminded them of their past commitments during Ramadan and urged them to reaffirm those promises.“Let today’s pledge be that we work impartially, avoid political subservience, follow the law, and act with fairness,” he said.The remarks come as political activities begin to intensify across the country, with both national and international observers watching closely ahead of the much-anticipated polls.
