Hollywood actress Pippa Scott, best known for her roles in The Searchers and Auntie Mame, has passed away. She died on May 22 at her home in California. She was 90 years old at the time of her death.
Although she passed away two weeks ago, the news became public on June 8. The information was confirmed by her daughter, Miranda Tollman. According to Miranda, her mother died of heart disease.
It is worth mentioning that Scott, a graduate of London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), began her career in 1956 with Jed Harris’s Child of Fortune. That same year, she made her film debut in The Searchers, marking the beginning of a prominent Hollywood career.
On television, Scott starred alongside Jack Warden in Jiggs and Jonn and made acclaimed guest appearances in The Twilight Zone and The Dick Van Dyke Show, which enhanced her reputation as a versatile actress.
Among her notable films are My Six Loves directed by Gower Champion, Petulia by Richard Lester, Cold Turkey by Norman Lear, and The Sound of Murder by Michael Lindsay-Hogg, along with several others.
Scott also made numerous guest appearances on television shows, including Mr. Lucky, The Virginian, Maverick, Thriller, Have Gun – Will Travel, Dr. Kildare, The Fugitive, Wagon Train, Ben Casey, Perry Mason, F Troop, I Spy, Family Affair, Medical Center, Gunsmoke, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Mission: Impossible, Columbo, The Waltons, Ironside, The Streets of San Francisco, and Mannix.
Notably, in 1998, she produced the documentary The World’s Most Wanted Man, based on Bosnian leader Radovan Karadžić. Later, in 2006, she produced King Leopold’s Ghost, a documentary on King Leopold II of Belgium and his brutal exploitation of the Congo.
