Elon Musk Announces New Political Party ‘America Party

Date:

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has made a major announcement in U.S. politics by proposing the formation of a new political party named the “America Party.” This comes amid a public fallout with former President Donald Trump.

Though Musk strongly supported Trump last year — even forming a pro-Trump political group and donating over $260 million — he has now distanced himself from that position. In January this year, Trump even appointed Musk as co-head of a special government department called the “Department of Government Efficiency (DoGE),” aimed at reducing wasteful government spending and tackling bureaucratic red tape.

However, following a public dispute with Trump, Musk has withdrawn from all of these initiatives. Amid this situation, Musk conducted a poll on his X (formerly Twitter) account, which has 220 million followers. He wrote, “Is it time to create a new political party in America that actually represents the 80% of people in the middle?”

The poll received over 5.6 million responses, with nearly 80% supporting Musk’s idea.

In a follow-up post, Musk stated, “The people have spoken. America needs a new political party.” He then proposed the name “America Party.”

Notably, Musk recently criticized Trump’s $2.4 trillion tax and spending bill, calling it “atrocious and shameless,” further intensifying their growing conflict.

In response, Trump threatened to cancel all federal contracts with Musk’s companies, including SpaceX and Tesla.

Their dispute has spilled over to social media, where Musk accused Trump of being linked to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal and even called for his impeachment. Epstein was a controversial financier convicted of child trafficking who died under mysterious circumstances in prison in 2019.

The political community has reacted strongly to this fallout. Some believe Musk is taking a new political direction. Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez commented, “These two massive egos were never meant to coexist. This breakup should’ve happened long ago.”

Reports suggest that the Musk-Trump feud has impacted the stock market as well. Following the public dispute, Tesla’s shares dropped by 14%, while Trump Media’s shares fell by 8%. However, both companies showed partial recovery the next day.

Meanwhile, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev made a humorous remark about the conflict. He offered to mediate a “peace deal” between Trump and Musk, writing on X, “We are ready to help broker peace between D and E. Just give us some Starlink shares as payment. Don’t fight, friends!”
