The Voice News: After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, several countries expressed solidarity with India. Now, Germany has come forward. In a statement, German Foreign Minister Johann Wedeful strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and expressed condolences to the families of the victims. He stated, “We are shocked by the brutal terrorist attack that occurred in India on April 22. After military strikes from both sides, India certainly has the right to self-defense against terrorism. We appreciate the current ceasefire.”
The German minister emphasized the importance of maintaining the current ceasefire and called for a stable bilateral dialogue to resolve the conflict. He mentioned that Germany and India regularly engage in discussions on combating terrorism and mutual cooperation.
As part of his three-nation Europe tour, India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar visited Germany. In a press conference there, he reiterated India’s firm stance against terrorism. He said, “India maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism. India will never succumb to nuclear blackmail.”
On April 22, Pakistan-backed terrorists attacked Pahalgam in Kashmir, brutally killing 26 innocent civilians. Following this, India launched “Operation Sindoor” to destroy terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, killing over a hundred terrorists. As Pakistan continued sending drones targeting India, the Indian security forces shot them down and responded with counter-attacks, destroying several Pakistani military bases. When Pakistan began shelling along the Line of Control and the border, Indian forces retaliated.
Amidst this situation, a fearful Pakistan reached out at the DGMO level to propose a ceasefire, which India accepted. The ceasefire has been in effect since then.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed credit for facilitating the ceasefire between India and Pakistan. However, India has consistently rejected this claim.
