The Voice News:A small plane has crashed into a residential neighborhood in San Diego, United States. The incident occurred on the morning of Thursday, May 22, during foggy weather. Following the crash, fires broke out in at least 15 homes, and rescue operations are underway to evacuate people trapped inside.
Dan Eddy, Assistant Chief of the Fire Department, stated in a press briefing, “Jet fuel has spread across the area. Our priority now is to search all affected homes and rescue anyone inside.”
The plane reportedly crashed directly onto several homes in the Murphy Canyon area. As of now, there are no confirmed reports of casualties.
According to a spokesperson from the San Diego Fire Department, the aircraft was a Cessna 550, also known as a Citation. It crashed near Montgomery Executive Airport at around 3:45 a.m. local time. These private jets are typically used for business purposes and can carry six to eight passengers.
The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the cause of the crash. Authorities have yet to confirm how many people were on board at the time of the incident.
Flight tracking data indicates the plane departed from Teterboro Airport near New York City on Wednesday night, stopped in Wichita, Kansas, for an hour, and then continued toward San Diego before crashing.
The aircraft, manufactured in 1985, is owned by a private company based in Alaska.
