Tom Cruise Teases Exciting Plans for Top Gun: Maverick Sequel
Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise has given fans a thrilling update on the much-anticipated sequel to Top Gun: Maverick. The 62-year-old actor, who reprised his role as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in the 2022 blockbuster, revealed that he and the creative team are actively brainstorming ideas for the next installment in the Top Gun franchise.
During an appearance on Australia’s Today show, Cruise shared that discussions are underway about potential storylines. “Yeah, we’re thinking and talking about many different stories and what could we do and what’s possible,” he said. He also reflected on the long journey to making Top Gun: Maverick, noting, “It took me 35 years to figure out Top Gun: Maverick, so all of these things we’re working on, we’re discussing Days of Thunder and Top Gun: Maverick”.
While Cruise did not confirm a production timeline, his comments suggest that the sequel is in early development. Fans of the franchise can expect more high-flying action and emotional storytelling as the team explores new directions for Maverick and his fellow pilots.
Cruise is currently busy with multiple projects, including his upcoming film Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, as well as a collaboration with acclaimed director Alejandro Iñárritu.
For now, Top Gun enthusiasts will have to wait for further updates, but Cruise’s latest remarks indicate that the beloved franchise is far from over.
