Pakistan’s former Prime Minister and currently imprisoned opposition leader Imran Khan has warned the nation to remain vigilant against potential Indian aggression. Referring to recent tensions with India, Khan stated that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undoubtedly seek revenge.
The former World Cup-winning cricketer praised Pakistan’s armed forces for their appropriate response to India and emphasized the need for national awareness in such volatile times. This information was reported by Pakistani news outlet Dawn on Wednesday (14 May).
According to the report, Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, met with him in prison and discussed the recent conflict with India during their conversation. Aleema said, “He (Imran Khan) told us that during times of war and similar situations, an immediate response is crucial. He also advised that the country and the people should remain alert because Modi will surely take revenge.”
Meanwhile, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Central Information Secretary of Imran Khan’s party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), stated in a press release that Imran believes the armed forces’ response not only boosted national morale but also uplifted the spirits of those imprisoned.
Akram stressed that the former Prime Minister has cautioned the country, saying that Modi’s deceptive and unreliable nature means Pakistan must be prepared for repeated aggression in the future.
He further quoted Imran Khan as warning, “India may continue its aggressive actions in the future, as Modi’s behavior is not trustworthy.”
In another development, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan criticized the ruling Shehbaz Sharif government, stating, “If a ceasefire can be achieved with a rival like India, then why can’t political dialogue take place with domestic opponents?”
He emphasized that peace is essential for regional progress and urged the international community to facilitate dialogue between India and Pakistan.
Gohar further stated that PTI is always ready to engage in constructive dialogue for the welfare of the country and its people. “If the government convenes an all-party conference, PTI’s political committee will consider participating,” he added.
