Amid escalating tensions with Pakistan, India has temporarily shut down flight operations at 32 of its civilian airports. The decision comes in the wake of Pakistan’s recent missile strikes on Indian military installations.
In a joint statement issued early Saturday, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced that all flight operations at these airports will remain suspended until 15 May.
Additionally, India has extended the closure of 25 air traffic service routes in the Delhi and Mumbai Flight Information Regions (FIRs) as a precaution.
The decision follows Pakistan’s military offensive “Operation Bunyan ul-Marsus,” launched in response to India’s recent cross-border operation “Operation Sindoor” in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and Punjab.
India’s central government ordered the airport closures shortly after Pakistan’s retaliatory strikes targeting 11 Indian military sites on Friday night.
