Dhaka, Bangladesh – Tech billionaire Elon Musk’s satellite internet service, Starlink, is set to conduct its first trial run in Bangladesh on April 9. The demonstration will take place at the InterContinental Dhaka during the opening day of the International Investment Conference.
The trial aims to showcase Starlink’s potential to provide high-speed and uninterrupted internet connectivity, particularly in remote and underserved areas. Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), announced the initiative during a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy.
The government plans to fully implement Starlink’s services within 90 days of the trial, marking a significant step toward enhancing the country’s digital infrastructure. The conference, running from April 7 to April 10, will focus on investment opportunities in sectors such as renewable energy, healthcare, and the digital economy.
While Elon Musk is not expected to attend the event, the trial run is seen as a promising start for Starlink’s operations in Bangladesh. The inauguration ceremony will be streamed live on social media using Starlink’s network.
