Film Kala Hiran to Portray Salman Khan’s Most Controversial Chapter

Date:

MUMBAI, May 30, 2026 — A new Bollywood film titled Kala Hiran is set to explore one of the most controversial periods in the life of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, focusing on the 1998 blackbuck poaching case and its long-term repercussions.

Directed by Bharat S. Srinath, the film will reportedly move away from the actor’s personal relationships and instead concentrate on the legal and public controversies that have surrounded him for decades.

According to the filmmakers, the story is centered on the alleged blackbuck hunting incident that occurred in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, during the shooting of the film Hum Saath Saath Hain. At the time, Salman Khan was accompanied by co-stars Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, and Satish Shah.

The case led to years of legal proceedings, court appearances, and periods of imprisonment, becoming one of the most widely discussed controversies in Indian entertainment. The film is also expected to touch on the origins of the reported conflict between Salman Khan and gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, a dispute that has continued to attract public attention.

Producer Amit Jani said the project aims to present aspects of the story that, in his view, have not been fully understood by the public.

Filming has taken place in several locations across the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, including the cities of Sambhal and Moradabad. The release of the film’s first poster has already sparked debate within Bollywood circles and among fans.

One of the biggest unanswered questions remains the casting of Salman Khan’s character. While the producers have not officially revealed the actor chosen for the role, industry speculation suggests that actor Sonu Mishra may portray the Bollywood star.

Despite the controversy surrounding the project, the filmmakers insist that Kala Hiran is not intended as gossip-driven entertainment but rather as a dramatized presentation of real events from a different perspective.
